Postdoc
position available in 2008 in ion channel biophysics - must
have prior experience with patch clamp recording. Opportunity
to learn structural biology. |
|
We
have an opening for a research fellow (staff scientist) with
experience in large scale protein expression in eukaryotic
cells (SF9, HEK, YEAST) and strong skills in molecular biology.
Applicants should have an M.Sc. or Ph.D. and an established
track record in this area of research. |

Information for
potential postdocs
Postdoctoral
fellows should have prior experience in either macromolecular crystallography,
or cell biology and protein chemistry, combined with strong skills
in routine molecular biology, or experience with biophysical and
kinetic analysis of ion channels using patch clamp techniques. Work in our lab, by
its nature, cannot be done 9-5 and requires a deep passion that
can only be filled by doing science. Postdocs, students, interns
and the PI typically work 9-7 or longer and come in as needed on
weekends to take care of cultures, change buffers, get ready for
synchrotron trips, check on crystals and so on. We aim to do high
impact science and work hard to achieve this. This is a good lab
for people who are ambitious, excited by science, and who want to
succeed and understand what it takes to achieve this.
Candidates interested in the post baccalaurate program at NIH must have prior experience in a research laboratory and a strong background in
chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology, and be intersted
in pursuing a career in basic science. We rarely take summer students.
